Fractional Shares

How can I invest
with only $5?

Most platforms require you to buy full shares of
investments—and that can get pricey, fast.

Stash breaks whole investments down into smaller, more affordable pieces called fractional shares, so you can buy stocks and funds with as little as $5.

FAQ

What are stocks and ETFs?

A stock is a share in the ownership of a company. If you are a shareholder, you have a claim on that company's assets and earnings.

ETF stands for Exchange-Traded Fund. An ETF is a themed basket of investments, like stocks and bonds, bundled together into a single fund that is traded on an exchange.

How do I choose my investments?

When you set up your account, you’ll answer some quick questions that will determine your investor profile. Based on your profile, we’ll recommend investments that could best fit your financial goals! You have the freedom to build your own portfolio, and we’ll help guide you as little or as much as you want.

How can I open an investing account?

Stash offers three subscription plans: Stash Beginner, Stash Growth, and Stash+. Each plan comes with a personal investment account. To set up your investment account, you’ll need to verify your identity and provide basic information about yourself, including your full name, date of birth, and social security number.

Can I invest if I’m a beginner?

Yes, you can! Stash was built for beginners. We also offer personalized guidance, interactive tools, and unlimited education through our Stash Learn platform to help guide your investing journey. Visit Stash Learn.

What’s the difference between a Stash investment account and a personal brokerage account?

A Stash investment account is a personal brokerage account! You can use it to invest in the hundreds of stocks and ETFs featured on our platform. What makes investing on Stash different is the opportunity to buy fractional shares of investments with as little as $5, rather than whole shares.
